Number of social media users cross 500 crores spend more than 2 hours every day
The number of users using social media has reached more than half of the world’s population. A study has claimed that 60 percent of the world’s population is active on social media platforms. These users use social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok. According to this report, the number of social media users has increased by 3.7 percent worldwide as compared to last year.
More than 500 crore active users
According to the latest report of Kepios Digital Advisory, 5.19 billion i.e. 519 crore users of the world are active on social media. This is 64.5 percent of the total population of the world. However, their proportion varies from region to region. Only one in 11 people in East and Central Africa use social media. At the same time, every third person in India is a social media user.
Spending more than 2 hours every day
Apart from this, the time spent on social media platforms has also increased. An active user is spending an average of 2 hours 26 minutes on social media. Brazilians spend an average of 3 hours 49 minutes a day on social media, while Japanese people spend less than an hour a day on social media.
Most users on these 7 platforms
Most users are active on 7 social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, WeChat, TikTok (Douyin), Twitter and Telegram. The number of users on other social media platforms is much less than these.
According to a study by Data Portal in April 2023, more than half of the world’s population remains active on social media. At that time this figure was 4.8 billion users. Of these, 150 million i.e. about 150 million users were added in the last 12 months. Users around the world were spending an average of 2 hours 24 minutes on social media at that time. This figure has increased in just three months.
